Lombardy Poplar (Populus nigra ‘Italica’) is a fast-growing, deciduous tree known for its distinctive, narrow, columnar shape. It can reach heights of 40-50 feet with a spread of only 10-15 feet. The tree has smooth, gray bark and bright green, diamond-shaped leaves that turn yellow in fall. It is a male clone, meaning it does not produce fruit or seeds.

Due to its dense foliage and fast growth, the Lombardy poplar is often used as a windbreak or privacy screen. The unique shape of the tree can add a vertical element and visual interest to the landscape. Since it grows quickly, it can provide privacy in a relatively short time compared to other trees.

Absolutely Great People

I ordered 10 Lombardy Poplars from Old House. These are cheap trees, fast growing but with a short lifespan usually used for a quick screen. They arrived within a few days very well wrapped but not surprisingly two were dead. It took me a few days to realize this but I contacted OT, sent them out of the dead trees, and within a day they had two trees shipped to me free of charge. The email correspondence was very pleasant. I will go to them first for my future landscaping needs!

Lombardy poplar trees

Very pleased with our order of 5 Lombardy Poplar trees. They were delivered to our porch with no problems. Very healthy plants. We planted them about 2 weeks ago. They still look great and healthy and we have had some growth already! Will use this company again!

I love OLDHOUSETREES!!!

I gotten two Lombardy poplars they were in good shape and healthy. I planted them they struggle in my soil. But bounce right back and now they flush out new leaves!!

My Lombardy poplar is in very good shape and I'm sure it will adjust to it's microenvironment quickly and easily because it was so healthy to begin with.
