Jane Magnolia (Magnolia x ‘jane’) can be grown as a shrub or small tree. It has dark green, leathery leaves. Its stunning tulip shaped blooms appear in late spring making it less apt to suffer from frost damage. The flowers are slightly fragrant, purple on the outside with a white interior. Jane usually requires little pruning other than removal of dead or damaged branches.
A great all around landscape choice for a pop of spring color. The Jane magnolia is a member of the “Little Girl” group of hybrid magnolias developed in the mid-50s at the U.S. National Arboretum.
